Guzzle Less Gas

High fuel prices got you down??  Use these 5 smart ideas to lower your driving costs.

1.  Combine errands.  Several short rides taken individually can use twice as much fuel as a longer, multidestination trip covering the same distance. ( I Work near the shopping strip so I try to combine shopping trips before work, during lunch, or after work).

2.  Optimize your route.  At www.gebweb.net/optimap , input your destination, and the site will map  out your quickest route, saving you travel time and fuel. (don't print to many directions though, or you will be saving gas and adding to printer ink costs).

3.  Go against the grain.  Plan your shopping for when traffic is the lightest, such as early in the morning or late at night, to avoid wasting time and gas. (This might also be the fastest way to get through lines at the checkout, they should be much shorter).

4.  Grab the nearest spot.  Next time your in a crowded parking lot, burn less fuel by zipping into the first spot available instead of searching for a better location. (This will also help you reach your 10,000 steps a day, it's a win win.)

5.  Cool off.  Use a sunshade for your windshield and leave the windows slightly open so you won't feel the need to blast the air conditioning when you get back in.  (Just remember to heed the label and remove before driving! lol)
